Family Upholstery Policies & Disclaimers
Custom Orders & Workmanship
- All custom upholstery orders are made to client specifications. Once work has begun or materials have been cut, orders cannot be canceled, refunded, or modified.
- Because every piece is made to order, no refunds or exchanges are accepted on custom furniture, upholstery, pillows, cushions, or specialty projects.
- Customer-supplied fabrics or materials are accepted at the client’s own risk. Family Upholstery is not responsible for shrinkage, unraveling, dye transfer, flaws, pattern distortion, color variation, or performance issues that may occur with customer-provided materials.
- We inspect each fabric before use, but once the fabric is cut, the responsibility for its behavior rests solely with the customer.
Fabric & Material Policies
- No refunds or returns are accepted for special-order or cut fabrics. Once a roll is cut or a material is processed, it cannot be resold or exchanged.
- Fabric colors may vary slightly from swatches or photos due to dye lots and monitor settings.
Hygiene & Sanitation
- For health and hygiene reasons, custom pillows, cushions, foam inserts, and bedding accessories are non-returnable and non-refundable.
- All filling materials used are new and comply with California Bureau of Home Furnishings requirements.
Warranties & Liability
- Family Upholstery guarantees craftsmanship and labor quality for a reasonable period from completion. This warranty does not cover wear and tear, misuse, fading, or customer-supplied materials.
- Once the finished piece leaves our premises or is delivered, responsibility transfers to the client. Any damage after pickup or delivery is not covered.
- We are not responsible for damage due to improper transport, exposure to sunlight, moisture, pets, or cleaning products.
Deposits & Payments
- A 50% deposit is required to begin work, with the remaining balance due upon completion or delivery.
- Deposits are non-refundable once materials are ordered or work has begun.
Outdoor Fabric Policies
Family Ayala’s Upholstery proudly offers Sunbrella® and Perennials® fabrics for outdoor and patio furniture. These high-performance textiles are recognized worldwide for their superior fade resistance, UV protection, and long-lasting durability when exposed to sunlight and outdoor elements.
Both brands are designed to resist fading, mildew, and wear caused by direct sun exposure — making them ideal for patios, decks, poolside seating, and other open-air environments.
However, it’s important to understand that outdoor fabrics are weather-resistant, not waterproof. While they offer excellent protection against sun and moderate moisture, they are not intended for prolonged or direct exposure to rain, heavy storms, or standing water.
Performance & Limitations
- Sunbrella® fabrics are engineered to protect against UV fading, discoloration, and sun damage.
- Perennials® fabrics offer luxury-grade performance with enhanced texture, feel, and stain resistance.
- Both fabric types are water-repellent, not waterproof. For extended durability, we recommend using weather covers or storing cushions during heavy rain or moisture conditions.
- Outdoor fabrics may require occasional cleaning and maintenance to preserve appearance and longevity.
Custom Orders & Special Requests
- All Sunbrella® and Perennials® orders are custom and non-refundable once fabric has been cut or processed.
- We can provide weather-protective sealants and fabric guard treatments upon request for added protection. These coatings improve water repellency and stain resistance but should be reapplied periodically.
- Please note that fabric warranties cover fading and UV damage, but not damage caused by improper storage, prolonged dampness, mildew, or misuse.
